PKR + DAP UNSCIENTIFIC EXPERT vs PAS NUCLEAR EXPERT

First, lets begin with Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said while addressing delegates at the Pas Muktamar in June last year:

"I like to bring your attention to the Lynas issue, which was raised by our delegates."The issue should be referred to our expert. We have a nuclear expert. Hulu Langat member of parliament Dr Che Rosli Che Mat holds a PhD in the nuclear field."

Then the expert from PKR, non other Mdm Fuziah Salleh, MP for Kuantan [Parliment Hansard 2008]:

I would like to bring to the attention that the rare earth elements is in fact likely to generate the medium or low levels of radiation. Because it is the developer of this industry requires a special license from the Atomic Energy Licensing Board(AELB) before starting operations. This clearly shows that these rare earth processing operations, Mr. Chairman involving the use and production of radioactive waste. [*Please note that Dr. Che Rosli bin Che Mat [Hulu Langat  MP] stood for Q&A but was rejected by Mdm Fuziah Salleh...]

Plus, in her Stop Lynas petition written:

Next the so called multi-talent expert from DAP Penang, its Chief Minister Mr Lim Guan Eng, April 2011:

"Clearly BN in its pursuit for blind profits is willing to put aside environmental concerns and place the health and safety of the people at risk ... First it is Pahang and now Perak, rare earths plants spraig up unhindered without proper and full consultation with the people of its possible high risk impact. Only PR-ruled states have taken a firm and uncompromising stand against rare-earth refineries and mines."

FINALLY, during an interview with a private television station recently, Che Rosli, who is a nuclear scientist said: "They are frightening the public by saying that Lynas is a nuclear plant when its function is only to process natural materials like rare earths from Mount Weld in Western Australia, which has less radiation compared with an ore mine.

"The issue was brought up by the PKR. I've kept quiet and even been given a warning by the Pas information bureau not to comment.

"I accepted it and have been silent. But this is unfair. They have been making comments in every issue of Harakah in a tone we are uncomfortable with."

When asked if Lynas is really a nuclear plant, Che Rosli said: "I am embarrassed. I am also a Pas member. So finally, I decided, as a nuclear expert, I should come forward to speak.

"Let people talk as they wish," said Che Rosli, who assured the people in Kuantan that they need not fear the presence of the plant.

On Friday, Che Rosli reiterated that the plant was safe and the project should proceed as long as the company adhered to strict safety standards and regulations to ensure that the health and safety of the residents were protected.

Che Rosli, an expert in nuclear science, graduated from a university in the United Kingdom.

The Malaysian government has attached strict conditions for Lynas to comply with to ensure the health and safety of the workers, the public and the environment.

The special conditions are: Lynas is required to submit to the Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) details concerning the location, construction and management of a permanent disposal facility (PDF) that will accommodate the waste generated by the factory; the PDF proposed by Lynas shall be located in a remote area away from populated areas, and Lynas is required to give a Letter of Understanding to remove and relocate overseas all waste generated.

All the waste from the plant shall be fully treated, meeting stipulated standards prior to discharge. There will be zero discharge of untreated industrial waste water.

The gasses released from the Lynas plant shall be treated by Lynas according to international standards and monitored by the relevant authorities continuously to ensure they are safe to be released through the plant stacks.

Before the public is duped by the accusations from various people, which has been described by Che Rosli as "unscientific and not at all academic", they should heed the advice of Abdul Hadi during his speech at the Pas Muktamar.

He was quoted as saying: "You want to know about oil palm, do not ask the rubber expert." - NST

But, what happened to Pakatan State government own backyard?

PAS nuclear expert was denied during their protest rallies and even from day one when Fuziah brought the issue to Parliment. Why?

Dr Rosli was instructed with gag order from his political party, upon whose instruction?

Fuziah and Guan Eng are politicians which neither is an expert in science. Read their statements and all that was highlighted are their political interests and rethoric over facts. Fuziah with her main interest to retain her Kuantan parliamentary seat and Guan Eng who failed to live up to the expectations of the debate to answer several pertinent questions in a recent debate with MCA President, soughting desperate comeback from Chinese voters.

Lets put aside rethoric statements by politicians, and theres  a nuclear expert to point his facts, WHO DO WE WISH TO LISTEN AND TRUST?

Tun Mahathir, honorable former Prime Minister began his speech sharing his thoughts and minds to over 1,000 youth at “Bicara Minda Bersama YABhg Tun Mahathir – Transformasi Kepimpinan Belia: Meniti Cabaran Wawasan 2020 in PWTC yesterday.

LEADERSHIP ACCORDING TO TUN...

1. There are opinions that leaders boosted their positions by their staunch supporters to a more glorify and powerful status. There are leaders who assume that their supporters undertake the task to raise their leaders to a higher and more powerful position.
    
2. Therefore, it is wrong for leaders to manipulate their supporters as tools to achieve their dreams and self-positioning. Leaders are responsible to their followers as their preferences.
    
3. Leaders must understand a country’s and her nation’s aspiration and development. They must be able to position its nation to a higher status. A nation progress or regress are associates with leaders.
    
4. Incompetent leaders, do not understand their responsibilities. To choose a leader, we need to know  their leadership talent and a leader in one era is not necessary suitable for another age and they must be able to understand circumstances changes.

Who are those prominent leaders? 

1. Deng Xiaoping, the architect of developed China with his famous phrase, “Do not care if the cat is black or white, what matters is it catches mice” has positioned China to be the richest country in the world with its reserved todate summing to 3 trillion USD as compared to US with 10.3 trilion deficit. Unlike  Mao Zedong or commonly named as Chairman Mao, eventhough he is an effectual guerilla leader but he does not understand the country's development, trapped within the communist ideology, not prioritizing economic growth and wealth of the people. During his reign, Mao failed to develop his country and for years China was in a backward state. Mao wins the war but viewed in a fly-developed countries, and Deng Xiaoping camps to make the richest country in the world.
    
2. Above all, Holy Prophet Muhammad s.a.w is the most successful leader in history who transformed the Arabs from jahiliyah to civilised nations and his leadership established civilisation.
    
3. Tsar, Peter the Great has undertook extensive reforms in an attempt to reestablish Russia as a great nation. during his reign. Although he proved to be an effective leader, Peter was also known to be cruel and tyrannical.

WHAT TUN HAS TO SAY TO FUTURE LEADERS

• In the past, in monarchy system people did not talk about freedom and they have no rights to politics as  it is not something the government allowed for the public. Today, in the era of freedom started from French revolution, a translation to the growing independence where anything is permissible.
• Leaders must be competent to understand the good and bad thus they must be able to distinguish between good and bad of freedom and not duplicate without evaluating.
• Youth leaders will train to prepare themselves to achieve the vision 2020 towards a developed country with our own way.
• Youth leaders, must understand the sources of the changes and ask whether there are values to the nation. They should train themselves to study and analyse.
• Finally, when a community grows, it is important to have a leader. Without good leadership, an indefinable nation direction will lead them to split and weak. Thus they will be destroyed.

La takhaf wa la tahzan innallaha ma’ana. (Janganlah kamu takut dan janganlah kamu bersedih hati. Sesungguhnya Allah swt ada bersama kita) 
• Matlamat penyebar fitnah jahat ini amat jelas - hilangkan keyakinan rakyat terhadap pemimpin utama UMNO dan meruntuhkan harapan orang Melayu terhadap parti keramat ini. Tujuan mereka tidak lain hanya mahu merampas kuasa politik.
• Dari satu segi, PKR dulu, kini dan selamanya tidak pernah berganjak daripada tujuan penubuhannya, iaitu mempertahankan seorang individu. Untuk itu syabas kita ucapkan kepada PKR, walaupun sebenarnya:

Hisap rokok dalam kelambu,
Terbit asap menjadi abu
PKR umpama golok kayu
Tetak tak lut gadai pun tak laku.

• Sebagai ahli UMNO, sebagai pemimpin UMNO, kita semua memikul amanah besar untuk terus membela agama, bangsa dan negara yang menjadi asas dan matlamat perjuangan UMNO.
• Kita tidak pernah menyerah kalah kepada tujahan kuasa politik pembangkang yang ingin merobek segenap sudut perjuangan UMNO dalam membela orang Melayu. 
• Pertahankan parti dengan seluruh jiwa dan raga. Jangan lari dari medan perjuangan. Jangan mengaku kalah sebelum berjuang. Jangan kita mencalit arang ke muka parti.
• Ingat, pilihan raya nanti adalah pertandingan hidup atau mati. Ingat, pilihan raya nanti bukan untuk kemenangan diri tetapi adalah untuk kemenangan parti.
  Kita sentiasa mengorak langkah melakukan perubahan dan memperbaiki kelemahan tanpa menggadai prinsip perjuangan.
• Gendang perang sudah dipalu. Langkah pendekar sudah disusun. Bangunlah! Berjuanglah! Pergilah ke seluruh 222 kawasan Parlimen, 576 kawasan Dewan Undangan Negeri dan 7,470 Pusat Daerah Mengundi
• Lunaskan tanggungjawab moral kita sebagai pejuang UMNO dengan membantu rakyat.
• Sanggupkah saudara-saudari melihat kuasa politik terlepas dari genggaman kita? Sanggupkah kita membenarkan pembangkang menawan Putrajaya? Sanggupkah kita melihat orang Melayu hilang kuasa di bumi sendiri?Jawapannya tentu sekali tidak.

Jika kita bersatu hati (wahdatul qalb), bersatu minda (wahdatul fikr), bersatu amal (wahdatul amal) dan bersatu matlamat (wahdatul hadf) parti kita akan kuat.

SIMPLE TRUTH FROM TUN MAHATHIR

Special interview with former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad by Nuraina Samad, NST

1. On the Malay vote.

 

TDM: The truth is the Malays are not very discriminating and they don’t make analysis. They don’t calculate. It is beyond them. Like the Arabs and the US. The Arabs are killing each other. To the US, that’s good. they don’t have (to kill the Arabs). To the Americans they are (the Arabs) Muslims whether they are Shiite, Sunni or Wahabbi. For the Muslims, there are the Shiite, Sunni and Wahabbi so we must fight each other. This is happening in Malaysia now, We don’t have to do anything. We want to defeat the Malays - the Malays will  cause their own defeat.

Mantra : 60% Malaysia strength are Malays and yet we are very compromising.. Till when?

2. On complaints that the DAP government in Penang sideline the Malays.

 

TDM: But we see that there are Malays who support the DAP.

Mantra : Indians are obviously sidelined in DAP, what more Malays.. WAKE UP!

 

3. On attracting the young to Umno.

 

TDM: They are idealistic and only want the best. But we know the world is not ideal. So they see Umno has deteriorated. So they reject. Also, Umno does not accept capable young people because they (the grassroots leaders) are insecure. They fear losing whatever that comes with the position. 

You see in the past, there are no doctors or lawyers in PAS. now, they all join PAS because Umno (grassroots) reject them.  So how can they support Umno?

Mantra : Tun has been repeating this again n again... and yet?

 

4. On the three Malay-based parties cooperating in other areas such as in educational and social programmes.

 

TDM: When we join a political party, we tie ourselves to that partiy to the point that we cannot even move. So we lose our personality. We become part of the party and become enemies with anyone who is the enemy of the party.

As for Umno-PAS enmity, it extends to marriage and death. Separate graveyards and two Imam. Our religion asks to be like family, to help one another. But because of politics, we cannot even mingle with each other.

Mantra : Reminds me of Somalians and now Malays are into tribal war

 

5. On PAS and DAP disagreeing on Hudud.

 

TDM: When they changed from wanting  to form an Islamic state and implementing Hudud to setting up a welfare state, many said this was (due to) the influence of the new leaders of PAS, the liberal and the educated. As though they defeated the ulamak. So in the newspapers were reports of this group defeating the ulamak.  

I wrote in my blog that the winner is not this group but Karpal Singh because Karpal has said, any plan to set up an Islamic state will be over his dead body. But he did not have to die for PAS to drop its plan to set up an Islamic state. Then the kampung people started saying that PAS leaders bowed to Karpal Singh. So Nik Aziz had to resurrect it.

PAS plays up religion, not championing the religion but plays it up for its own political interest.

Mantra : PAS was never consistent in their struggle. Due to failing championing many religion issues, Malays start to reject them and non-Malays  fear for their Taliban approach

 

6. On the role of  Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim trying to keep the loose coalition together.

 

TDM: This is the Barisan Nasional concept of cooperation. When Tengku Razaleigh left Umno to form Semangat 46, he tried. He explained to PAS and DAP, that if “you” fight each other, “they” will win. So, don’t fight and do as the BN does. Field one candidate and all three support that candidate. But as you know, Semangat 46 was not successful. When Anwar left, he brought with him the same principle. But now he can see the split.

Mantra : Something BN should mull seriously 

 

7. On whether people realise that the Opposition has not delivered.

 

TDM: We say that but if we see from the Chinese perspective, for instance. They give their support to DAP. In Penang, the Chinese are in power. I hear in Sanah and Sarawak, they are saying, if Penang can, why can’t we? And they look at the 2008 results, they see a chance for them. they are not going to give up that chance.

Mantra : BN component party (Chinese rep) should buck up and champion their voters

 

8. On the Opposition demand for a fair and free election when in reality, their leaders - namely the DAP and PKR - are not evenly elected.

 

TDM: Nepotism is practised there...Wife, son, daughter.. It's just an issue to demonise the government. Nothing else. Not that they really want it. They don't even believe in free election. If they become the government, it will be worse.

For instance PAS during the elections in Kedah. They moved about 50 people from Kelantan to Kedah. We knew because there was only one address for all the 50.

Mantra : PKR introduced 'demo kerusi' where as DAP favors color

 

9. On downsizing the civil service.

 

TDM: I would downsize the civil service but not by shrinking the civil sevice but by privatisation. The whole idea is to reduce government cost of administration. Take Telekom. When we privatize, the workers came under the new entity. That is alright. Nobody complained before. We must remember that  the government has got the function of also creating jobs. We cannot say that a big size means inefficiency. Our country has grown. When we became independent, our population was five million. Now we are 28 million.

Mantra :  Tony Pua had no choice but to copy Tun's strategy and claimed its DAP's

 

10. On Anwar Ibrahim’s call for a Malaysian spring.

 

TDM: That is his wishful thinking.

Mantra : We should learn from our neighbour, Thailand. Its nation went chaotic for street demos and were unprepared for its flood disaster.

 

11. On whether Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat has overstayed his welcome as Kelantan Menteri Besar.

 

TDM: Yes I think he has. He doesn’t speak like he used. 

Mantra : Tok Guru has over stayed but will PAS stays relevant without him?

 

12. On whether BN can make a comeback in Kelantan.

 

TDM: Yes. Only  if BN knows how to counter him. He is an iconic figure for PAS.  They are fanatical towards Nik Aziz. They  regard him as an ulamak. Maybe so,  although I doubt  that but as an administrator he is destroying the state. I mean, the most intelligent Malays come from Kelantan.  Here is a Malay state and it is the least developed among the states in Malaysia.

Mantra :  UMNO need to proof that they are reliable and trustworthy to Kelantanese

 

13. On allowing students in politics.

 

TDM: We want to give freedom to students. They are not children but we find that those who are active in politics are the Malay students. In the past, the demonstrations were all (participated by) Malays. We know we need educated Malays. If they deviate because of politics and their studies suffer, they would be the ones to lose and so would the Malays. I can guarantee that the Chinese will not take part in demonstrations. They would probably be there among themselves, in discussion, as usual. And if they speak at the speakers’ corner, the ones listening would be the Malays.

We are not over the hump. We are still behind, We need to catch up with people. We need to be more serious about acquiring knowledge. 

Maybe, you can call me a dictator. But I was thinking in the interest of the students when I introduced AUKU (University and University Colleges Act). It is in the interest of students, especially Malays students.

Mantra :  Only if Malays would understand this!

 

14. On calls for sexuality rights.

 

TDM:  We are a copycat society. Whatever the west does, we think it is right. So, if in the west, they allow same sex marriage, we should too, in order to be up-to-date. That kind of thinking to me is backward. We stand by our moral values. We cannot afford any kind of collapse in morality. In my opinion, if there is a prohibition by religion, there is a reason for that. Although it is not explained, there is a reason. If it was explained during “jahiliah” (age of ignorance), they would not have understood it.

Mantra : This is our country, so it has to be OUR way!
